ObservING

On November 16 th our group met in the TCC library to view and enjoy some student made art.
An art show was taking place on the first floor of the library where the art would be made by
students and judged by students, with a cash prize. They accept paintings, drawings,
photographs, 3-D art, and jewelry. It was set kind of late at night which was tough for me
because my mom needs the car for most of the day.

There wasn’t too much 3-D art or jewelry, mostly paintings and drawings. But there was this
human sized “outfit”, it had a cow skull for the head and art paper used to create a dress around
it. The boys didn’t really like it and thought it was weird and creepy, for me it was fine not the
prettiest piece but definitely unique. There were even some pieces that I’m sure I’ve seen before
online. There was a good amount of people there looking at the art as well.

Our group discussed what we thought of the pieces as well as other topics we had on our mind.
We talked about our schedules for next term, our friends and family, and what we thought of this
project. I think we became closure with this meet up, which is ironic since this is the end of term
and our last/only group project. We had a tough time with conflicting schedules during this
project, but we came up with a lot of creative meet ups and did enjoy each other’s company.

Community Science ExplorING

My group and I decided to go check a local science fair to see what we could learn and how we could find a way to use what we learned. We walked around the fair for a couple minuets looking around and analyzing before really doing anything there. We got a pamphlet with a map on it to help us better navigate and pinpoint a certain table that we felt might help us and it was the commutations table. We choose this table because we are in a class that is all about communication.

While listening to the lady at the communications table we learned how they were using certain games and other activities  to show how they were trying to reach out to people in the community. Kevin even decided to partake in some of the action by even spinning the wheel and answering a question about the how we could help get more people involved in the community and with science. Kevin did when a prize for answering the questions.

In conclusion going to the science fair was very beneficial because we learned more about communications dealing with science and how it real important it is to always be involved in the community. We also learned that communications does not always have to be verbal it can be through games which is a different form of communication.

Art SurfING

Our tour of the Railroad Square shops began at a really interesting thrift shop of sorts with so many styles of chairs and clothing outside. The colors of the area and the people around brought an even more exotic feeling to the place. From here we ventured around an art gallery that was having a silent auction, that ranged from little portraits to extravagant photographs of hummingbirds that took up the entirety of a wall.

There were so many different kinds of stores in this area from video games to  incense! None of us could really believe how many different kinds of worlds we were walking into with each place we walked. Some of the art buildings even had two floors since there were so many pieces to be displayed. The environment surrounding this whole part of town was interesting for everyone, and we all got to learn a bit more about each others' artistic tastes!

MeetING

When setting up our first meeting I’m not sure if any of us knew what to expect. The project is an opportunity to take an assignment in our own hand’s, but that doesn’t always make the assignment any easier. None of us knew each other very well, we don’t know who cares about the class who cares to much or even if someone’s just there to ride the coattails to easy A.  We quickly figured though, that there was nothing to worry about as we all seem to be highly motivated.
We began the meeting discussing the important question first. We discussed what days to plan off campus events in attempt to get an idea of each others schedules. For now Saturdays worked best for each of us and Tuesdays and Thursdays are best for on campus events. We then exchanged numbers and created a group chat so we can always be able to contact each other.
The group is eager to get this project rolling, during the meeting we found a link for event in Tallahassee. We all agreed on our first event will be a ghost tour that will be going on for the next three weeks. This is an eager group and we are all excited to get started. We decided to car pool to the ghost tour, but no date has been confirmed. We think that two weeks from now should give everyone plenty of time fro everyone to free up that Saturday. We are all pretty excited and hopefully our next blog will show  you a successful first group event.
